Harry Thring is an Australian artist based in Hamburg, Germany. His artistic interest lies primarily in exploring our historical connections and how they help us understand our contemporary position. He’s interested in the marks we make and the limits of that making. What remains, what’s forgotten – the lacuna of meaning there between.

“The physical work I made during my time in Schöppingen appropriately reflected a feeling of time escaping and in hindsight, I understand it was also made with a sense of urgency, which was actually a really good fit. The first six weeks of my residency flew by quickly and not long after that I realised I was subconsciously counting down towards its end, not because I was looking forward to it, but because I felt I had so much to do before I left. Given the works themselves — a series of engraved found refrigerator doors — handle ideas of time elapse on varying scales and of fall, it was a beneficial psychological state to find myself in.”
