My stay in Schöppingen was dedicated to finishing three pieces- a solo accordion piece „lulan,“ and two ensemble pieces called „Tínig,“ and „Tracing Iku.“ It was crucial for me to have a huge and quiet work space. In the morning, I would work downstairs facing the yard to take advantage of the (sun)light. I would lay the finished pages on the floor. It’s sort of a warm up for me. At night, I would move upstairs and proceed with the intensive work.
It took a while before I explored the town, joined the local events, and socialised more with my colleagues. I appreciate how welcoming and supportive everybody was. I believe the overall atmosphere in the Künstlerdorf helped me keep my peace in overcoming internal (self-)conflicts, which is critical in continuing my work. One of the most appreciated moments for me is to see some of these new friends, my fellow artists, attend the realisation of my piece in Essen.
