Luca Mael Milschis an author, translator and moderator based in Berlin. After finishing their Master’s degree in German literature, Milsch worked as a curator at the Literary Salon in Hanover. Milsch is translating poetry and prose from English, most recently Claire Kilroy’s “Kinderspiel” and Selby Wynn Schwartz’s “Wir waren Sappho.” After publishing various poetry and short prose works, Milsch’s debutnovel “Sieben Sekunden Luft“ (Seven Seconds of Air) was published by Haymon Verlag in 2024. An excerpt from the novel earned Milsch a scholarship to the LCB’s prose workshop.
“The four months I spent in the Künstler*dorf Schöppingen were an incredibly important time for me. After an in-depth research phase, which was necessary for the continuation of my short story collection and my new novel project, I focused primarily on the conception and implementation of the novel. The fellowship gave me plenty of time and space to do this, and the surroundings provided me with the necessary peace and quiet to develop the concrete structure and form and find a narrative voice for the text. The joint exhibition and exchanges with the other artists also gave rise to ideas for new projects.“
