Yiming (*1995) is an installation and new media artist. Her practice weaves together organisms, everyday objects, and machines to investigate the fragile and often indistinct boundaries between reality and illusion, life and simulation. Her works explore the convergence of authenticity, vulnerability, corporeality, and technology, frequently repositioning mechanical elements outside their original contexts to inhabit ambiguous, in-between spaces. Through the use of low-tech kinetic devices, she highlights the individual’s perception and relationship with their environment. Her installations often adopt a counter-intuitive protective aesthetic, emphasizing the subtle ways in which artificial and organic systems shape human subjectivity and sensory experience.
Yiming is currently the owner of Yimin Art Technology Co., Ltd. She holds an MA in Information Experience Design from the Royal College of Art (2020).
