After more than 34 years of exceptional commitment to the Künstlerdorf Schöppingen, Christina Rau was bid farewell as Chairwoman of the Foundation Board at the most recent meeting of the Foundation Board.
Christina Rau has played a key role in the development of the Künstlerdorf since its beginnings – from 1989 to 2019 as Chairwoman of the Friends‘ Association and since the foundation was established in 1998 as Chairwoman of the Foundation Board. During her many years of work for the Künstlerdorf, Christina Rau has always been committed to the success and further development of the institution. This change marks the end of an important phase of continuity for the Künstlerdorf, which would like to express its sincere thanks for this special and long-standing commitment.
Prof. Monika Grütters succeeds her as Chairwoman of the Foundation Board. She has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2005. From 2013 to 2021, she was Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. With her experience, the Münster-born cultural politician is an asset to the Künstlerdorf Schöppingen.
Culture Minister Ina Brandes: „The Künstlerdorf Schöppingen has developed into an exceptional cultural location with an international reputation. Artists from all over the world come together here for their creative work. Christina Rau has played a major role in this development. It is thanks to her decades of commitment that the Künstlerdorf has developed in a way that is the envy of many. My sincere thanks go to her efforts. At the same time, I am delighted that Professor Monika Grütters, a passionate cultural expert and experienced networker, has been appointed as her successor.“
