“Even though writing is the first and last thing on my agenda every day, and I try to organize everything else around those few concentrated hours, I need to exchange ideas with other artists. I want to understand everything about their work, the themes, the forms, the production processes, and the personal paths that led them to their work. My time in the Künstler:innendorf gave me the space and time for both: retreating to write and engaging in inspiring exchanges. I was able to meet people with whom I still have close relationships and supportive conversations about our work. I was able to work on the publication of my debut “Die Routinen” (The Routines), on a literary essay on the absurdity of the term “resilience,” which incorporated conversations and situations in the Künstler:innendorf, and on a poetry film about failure, which was not quite finished. And in the evenings, when everything still wasn’t done, it was important to play tabletennis with the other residents or sit together at our weekly potluck. A creative and social nest that sustained me for two months and will continue to warm me for a long time to come.”
