Ilija Matusko (*1980 in Munich, Germany) studied sociology, social psychology and
political science. He lives and works in Berlin, among others for the „taz, die tageszeitung“. In January 2020 he was awarded the literature prize „Irseer Pegasus“. His stories and short stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines, respectively. His essay „Verdunstung in der Randzone“ will be published by Suhrkamp Verlag in 2023.
In his texts, the Berlin based author deals with the question of what role social origin plays in the career of each person. During his stay in the Künstlerdorf, Ilija Matusko worked on essays on the topic of social class. As something that is always present, that runs along in every situation, that determines biographies and working lives, and at the same time remains strangely invisible.
