In Schöppingen Jeanpy Kabongo worked on the project “The Relic” together with Géraldine Tobe. The traumas that the history of humanity has known, recorded over time and circumstances are at the heart of this project. In the second reading of this installation, the involvement of current Western societies and impact of the exploitation of natural resources of the Democratic Republic of Congo in particular, and Africa in general are addressed. In October and November 2021, the installation was part of the exhibition “History’s Footnote: on Love and Freedom” at Marres – Huis voor Hedendaagse Cultuur, curated by Khanyisile Mbongwa.
