Anaïs Hazo

Anaïs Hazo is a visual artist working between France and the Netherlands. Her multi-facetted practice is deeply informed by anarcha- and eco-feminisms. For her, the processes of creating works are just as important as the pieces they generate, and they unfold over extensive periods of research. Many of her works thus become in-situ, embodied, experimental lifestyles. She immerses herself completely in them, through the making of objects, foods, rituals, smells and spaces.

In residency at the Künstlerdorf, Anaïs crafted ceramic oil-burners and started an inventory of the endemic plants in Schöppingnen, in order to create local essential oils. In parallel, she started studying objects, narratives and politics of care, especially in the field of birthwork, as she plans to offer physiological and emotional support to birthing people in the near future.
