Azadeh Karami (*1984, Iran) received a bachelor’s degree in architecture in Tehran. From a young age, she was interested in reading and writing poetry and stories. In recent years, she wrote twelve short stories and more than twenty-five long and short poems. Writing ultimately allowed her to come to terms with and come closer to herself. With the help of writing, she was able to free diffuse thoughts. At the same time, it connected the world within and the world outside. The miracle of the word fascinated her, as something at first incomprehensible, which each writer or poet shapes in his or her own way and thus creates different worlds. This miracle of words awakened in her an involuntary desire to give shape to identity in textual form.
With the difficult social events in Iran during 2022, Andisheh has been an activist for women’s rights in her country, raising the voice of her community from afar in Germany.
My storytelling project was a collection of short and interconnected stories that are both separate and interdependent. This collection of short stories is formed with the concept of country / hospitality has twelve chapters or twelve short stories of about forty to fifty pages. The initial idea of this book was formed from the current situation in Iran. A country in crisis. Both in terms of internal inflammation and in terms of sanctions abroad. The people of Iran, especially in recent years due to the chaos imposed by the government, these days are in a state of unrest. These economic, religious and political pressures have caused people to react differently psychologically. That these government pressures and these psychological reactions of the people have created an extremely insecure and frightening environment.
