The residency at Künstlerdorf Schöppingen has granted me the space and concentration to work intensively further on themes and topics that are vital for my artistic process. It also presented an environment where I could challenge my ideas through countless intellectual, political, and artistic discussions with other fellows. Lastly, living in a closed artistic community encouraged me to take more risks in my gastronomical adventures; at least, at times, we did not utterly rely on frozen pizza.
The primary project I materialised during the residency, “on disembodiment and resistance,” is about the forceful partitioning and rearrangement of the body in time and the possibilities of corporeal resistance. Whilst controlled hand gestures and spatial projection continuously rearrange the voice’s expression, the performing body presents the limits of performance capacity and the limits of coercion.
