Sara Alvarado, a Colombian visual artist and creative researcher based in Berlin, works at the intersection of art and social practices. Her work examines the potential of artistic practices not only as a means of expression, but also as a tool for research and mediation in contexts of conflict and social tension, exploring topics such as migration, borders and cultural identities.
With an MA in Intercultural Conflict Management (Berlin) and a BFA in Visual Arts (Bogotá), she integrates her academic training with an artistic practice that explores the dynamics between social structures. Through media such as installations and collaborative projects, she uses art practice as a form of mediation and conversation that promotes intercultural dialogue and addresses contemporary issues from a critical perspective.
Her work expands the possibilities of art by transforming it into a tool for bridging research and social action.

Camilo Pachón, Stiftung Künstler*dorf 2024

During my residency in Stiftung Künstlerdorf Schöppingen I found the time, space and support to pause and look at my work from a distance. I created a laboratory space within the gallery that quickly became a place for exploration, doubt, experimentation and conversation. There, in the midst of discussions with the other residents, ideas grew organically, nourished by the intercultural environment around us. This shared space became an essential part of my research. It was here that I learned to name what I had only intuited, to explore new avenues and to build my work piece by piece. Time, more than a resource, became an ally, allowing me to discover new ways of articulating and projecting my practice.
